MEC Makume hosts Post Budget Business Breakfast

The Free State Province, being at the centre of the country, has a lot of economic potential and can attract a number of investors and create the much needed jobs in the province, especially for the youth.

His budget vote was not just a hit and run, the MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Mr Ketso Makume, will have a post budget engagement with business and the relevant stakeholders to ensure accountability and the realisation of the plans of his department.

According to the Spokesperson for the department Mr Mojalefa Mphapang, the MEC will host a post budget breakfast engagement session to unpack and reflect on the implications of the Budget Vote presented at Legislature on June 2025.

Mphapang said this engagement reaffirm the department’s on-going efforts to offer further insight into the department’s plans, strategic priorities towards youth empowerment and mobilize private sector funding and progress made during the previous financial year, including the policy direction for 2025/26 financial year.

“The said session will be done in collaboration with the Business School from the University of the Free State and Black Management Forum (BMF) for stakeholders to analyze the departmental budget, identify opportunities for private public partnerships to grow the economy, create much needed jobs and improving service delivery.

This session is in line with the apex priorities of the 7th Administration-driving inclusive growth and job creation; reducing poverty and high cost of living and building a capable, ethical, and developmental state,” said Mojalefa Mphapang.

MEC Makume will host the business breakfast on 12 September 2025, at the Navall Hill Platinum Arium, Bloemfontein from 8am.
