Judge Musi to fill vacancies in Legislature

Judge President of the High Court of South Africa in the Free State province John Musi has convened a special sitting at the Free State Legislature to fill vacancies following the resignation of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and the Chairperson of Chairpersons of Committees.

The resignations were a result of members of legislature being elected by the Free State Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae to be MECs. They were officially sworn into office on Sunday 23 June 2024 to serve the community of the Free State in different departments.

The former Speaker of Legislature Ms Ntobizanele Sefuba is now MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation. Dr Matlhake Maboya is now MEC for Education and Mr Viceroy Mahlatsi is now MEC for Health.

Judge Musi will therefore fill the vacancies by swearing in new members on Wednesday at Fourth Raadsaal in Bloemfontein at 14: 15.
