Clubs in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) are getting reading for the new Betway Premiership season to kick off on 14 September 2024.
As clubs gear up, they have taken to the field to start training and bought new players to enhance their performance in the new season.
Mamelodi Sundowns will look to defend their title as the league champions; however, all eyes are on them since Coach Rulani Mokoena left the club to see how Masandawana will perform without him.
Kaizer Chiefs has also made some changes, restructuring and getting new personnel on board with the hope of having a better season and to at least win a trophy in the new season.
The PSL officially announced the kick-off date of the season which will be packed with soccer action. The opening will feature six fixtures and on the 15 September two more fixtures will be played.
The opening match will see the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns going up against SuperSport United.
More action is to take place on Saturday afternoon; fixtures include Royal AM vs. Cape Town City, Orlando Pirates vs. Chippa United, and Marumo Gallants vs. Kaizer Chiefs.
Later in the evening will see Polokwane City take on AmaZulu FC, while Sekhukhune United hosts newly promoted Magesi FC in the first Limpopo derby of the season.
The two matches on Sunday will be between Richards Bay FC and TS Galaxy, followed by a clash between Stellenbosch FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows to wrap up the opening weekend’s action.
The new kid on the block, Marumo Gallants FC will host Kaizer Chiefs at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein for its first PSL match. This will be a very important match for the new club as they will want to start their season on high note.
On the other hand, Amakhosi have been struggling over the past seasons, they are also looking to turn their fortunes around, and how they start their season will set the tone for the rest of the season.
