The Gauteng Department of Economic Development is shifting the dial on local job creation and enterprise growth with the upcoming launch of the Vul’Amathuba Campaign. Spearheaded by MEC Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, this province-wide initiative is designed to bridge the gap between ordinary citizens and tangible economic prospects.

Scheduled for 29 September 2026 at Constitution Hill in Braamfontein, the campaign aims to dismantle systemic barriers that lock marginalized groups out of the mainstream economy.
A Unified Platform for Growth
At its core, Vul’Amathuba functions as a centralized, one-stop platform tailored for a diverse cross-section of the population, including:
- Job seekers looking for active employment placements.
- Unemployed graduates needing a bridge into professional sectors.
- Aspiring entrepreneurs and artisans seeking business support and technical training.
- Creatives eager to tap into the province’s vibrant cultural economy.
Rather than operating in a vacuum, the initiative leans heavily on cross-sector collaboration. By forging strategic partnerships with private sector stakeholders, training institutions, and business support organizations, the Department is engineering an ecosystem where economic participation is streamlined.
Driving Inclusive Economic Participation
The rollout comes at a critical time when local economies require targeted interventions to stimulate growth and curb high unemployment rates. Vul’Amathuba reflects a deliberate policy shift toward creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurship and skills development. By bringing information, networks, and enterprise support directly to communities, the province is signalling a proactive approach to economic recovery.
