By The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport has officially issued a call for public comments on proposed amendments to the Gauteng Provincial Road Traffic Regulations, 2001. The draft regulations, published under Gauteng Provincial Extraordinary Gazette No. 247 on 5 August 2026, invite motorists, transport operators, industry stakeholders, and the broader public to weigh in on upcoming legislative changes affecting the province’s road network.
The proposed amendments are framed under section 25(1)(g) and (h) of the Gauteng Road Traffic Act, 1997 (Act No. 10 of 1997). Emphasizing the importance of public participation in legislative updates, Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, noted that citizen feedback serves as a foundational element of constitutional democracy and forms a critical part of shaping provincial transport governance.
