
The Free State Province remains the undisputed National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination champions for consecutive years, to sweeten things even further; the province has enhanced its performance to 91% matric pass rate.
The Minister of Basic Education Ms Siviwe Gwarube announced the national matric results on 13 January 2025, in Johannesburg where she proclaimed the Free State province the best performing province, according to the Minister, the 2024 national NSC pass rate has increased from 82.9% in 2023 to 87.3% in 2024 and every province has obtained a pass rate above 84%.
“The Free State is the best performing province increasing its pass rate from 89% to 91%,” announced Minister Siviwe Gwarube.
Fezile Dabi in the province recorded the highest pass rate at 93.5%; Motheo District came in second with a 92.2% followed by Xhariep at 92.2% as well. Thabo Mofutsanyane obtained a 90.6% pass rate and Letjweleputswa achieved 87.5% pass rate.
The Free State Department of Basic Education led by Dr Julia Maboya will today officially announce the matric results of the province and celebrate their achievement on 17 January 2025, at the Central University Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein.
