The Free State Provincial Government will host a Social Compact Imbizo in Parys today, 27 September 2024, during the month of September, under the Integrated Public Service Month theme: “A Government at Work for You.” The Social Compact will be convened in line with the pronouncement made by the Premier of the Free State, MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, during the Opening of the Provincial Legislature.
The Social Compact Imbizo serves as a vital platform for fostering collaboration and engagement between government and the community. In the District, where local challenges and opportunities intersect, this initiative aims to enhance the alignment of government services with the specific needs of residents. Bringing together civil society organizations, key stakeholders, and community members, the Imbizo taking place in Parys will facilitate meaningful dialogue and collective action to address pressing issues.
The intention of this program is to outline the coordinated Government Program of Action (POA) moving forward and to solicit input from identified civil society organizations, partners, formations, and stakeholders critical to government business and the community at large. The participation of local voices is crucial in shaping a responsive and inclusive government approach, ensuring that the unique needs of Parys and the District at large are prioritized.
Premier Letsoha-Mathae emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “The Social Compact Imbizo is not just an event; it is a commitment to listen to our communities and work together towards sustainable solutions. We recognize the strength that comes from collaboration, and we are dedicated to ensuring that every voice is heard as we build a brighter future for all.”
The two-day program will begin on Thursday, the 26th of September 2024, when the District Champions, MEC for Social Development Mathabo Leeto, and MEC for COGTA and Human Settlements Saki Mokoena will provide services to the community of Parys and the surrounding areas.
The Imbizo will take place at the open space adjacent to Fezile Dabi Stadium, Parys at 9am.
