Former MEC Gadija Brown makes it to IEAC

The Free State Provincial Executive Council (Exco) in its first meeting on 5 March 2025, established an Investment and Economic Advisory Council (IEAC) that saw the appointment of some of the brilliant minds in the province including Ms Gadija Brown.

The Council will serve at the behest of the Free State Premier Ms MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae for a period of three years. The IEAC consists of 15 members appointed by Exco, amongst them is the former MEC for Finance Ms Gadija Brown, who is passionate about the economy and has exhibited great leadership qualities during her time as MEC, achieving clean audits for her department.

Another notable character amongst the chosen leaders, is the former MEC for the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA), and later became MEC for Education, Mr Makalo Mohale.

The province is on an aggressive push to develop and grow its economy, as such, the Exco established the IEAC to implement the various strategies in growing the economy of the Free State.

The Council will function as advisors to the Premier on economic matters, monitor the implementation of the Free State growth and development strategy and promote and building awareness about economic opportunities in the province.
