The Free State High Court in Bloemfontein has dismissed the former Premier Ace Magashule’s Personal Assistant (PA) Ms Moroadi Cholota’s application to have her arrest declared unlawful and unconstitutional on Tuesday.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Free State has since welcomed the decision by the Court and said the ruling is a significant milestone in the on-going fight for justice in the asbestos scandal.
The DA Provincial Leader Dr Roy Jankielsohn said the Court’s decision is a victory for those committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability in the face of corruption.
“We believe this outcome will pave the way for further progress in addressing the serious issues surrounding the R255 million asbestos contracts case during the trial, which commences in April 2025.
The DA remains steadfast in our commitment to pursuing justice and transparency, and we will continue to advocate for measures that hold wrongdoers accountable and protect the interests of the public,” said Roy Jankielsohn.
