Tanzania sought to revenge themselves after losing 3-0 to South Africa on home soil; however, the will of Banyana Banyana to push through to the Olympics was unstoppable and they once more beat the Twigas Stars in their second leg match at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Tuesday evening.
Tanzania started strong determined to win the game. The match was a significant one for Banyana Banyana player Jermaine Seoposenwe as she was playing her 100 cap.
The teams went at each other searching for an opener, but none could score the first goal and went to break with a goalless draw.
In the second, Banyana Banyana surprising Tanzania from a free kick placed towards the penalty spot, Thembi Kgatlana with a first timer scored the only goal of the game on 57th minute. Banyana Banyana won the game 1-0.
South Africa will face Nigeria in their next Women’s CAF Olympic qualifier match.
