It is reported that Kaizer Chiefs has ended their journey with head coach Mohamed Nasreddine Nabi (60) following their first embarrassing 3-1 defeat of the season against Sekhukhune United.
It is not quite clear on the reasons for his dismissal from the team, however, it is reported that Amakhosi has terminated Nabi’s two year contract due to qualifications rather than performance.
Kaizer Chiefs is yet to issue a statement on the matter and announce Nabi’s replacement or an interim coach.
Nabi joined Kaizer Chiefs in July 2024, with a two years contract with an option to extend it for one year.
In welcoming him, Amakhosi at the time said the highly-respected Tunisian-born Nabi comes to Chiefs with a wealth of experience under his belt, having coached top teams in various countries, including Libya, DR Congo, Egypt, Sudan, UAE, Tanzania and, more recently, Morocco.
He has won silverware in several countries and participated with distinction in African Club competitions over the years. Among his many accolades, the coach is also a CAF Confederation Cup winner with FC Leopards in Congo.
Nabi holds a UEFA Pro coaching licence, however, it is reported that the coach does not possess the coaching qualification required by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to sit on the bench in the CAF Confederation League; which is the reason that Kaizer Chiefs is letting him go.
More information will follow as this is a developing story.
