Master-class at the Bernabéu: Real Madrid Dismantles Sevilla in a Four-Goal Thriller

MADRID — Under the iconic lights of the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid delivered a master-class in attacking brilliance on Sunday, sweeping aside Sevilla with a resounding 4-1 victory.

Fuelled by a breath-taking first-half display and individual moments of pure magic, Los Blancos extended their flawless home record to six wins from six matches this season.

From the opening whistle, the contest crackled with intensity, but it was Madrid’s sudden burst of creativity around the half-hour mark that blew the game wide open. Jude Bellingham orchestrated a lightning-fast counterattack, seamlessly linking up with Yan Diomande before laying the ball off to Arda Güler.

The Turkish sensation did the rest, unleashing a mesmerizing left-footed strike from the edge of the box that left Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos rooted to the spot.

If Güler’s opener was a statement of intent, Kylian Mbappé’s first of the night moments later was pure art. In the 37th minute, Bellingham unlocked the Sevilla defense with an exquisite backheel pass.

Mbappé collected the ball on the edge of the area, spun sharply past Kike Salas, effortlessly rounded Vlachodimos, and slotted home to double the lead. It was a sequence that left the Bernabéu crowd spellbound, encapsulating a first half where Madrid completely outclassed their opponents.

Sevilla attempted to claw their way back after the interval. An acrobatic effort from João Félix in the 60th minute looked destined for the back of the net, only for Federico Valverde to execute a heroic goal-line clearance. That defensive stand proved pivotal, as Madrid immediately extinguished any hopes of a comeback.

Mbappé struck again just three minutes later. Having drawn a foul inside the box from Ramón Martínez Castrín, the French superstar coolly stepped up and converted the resulting penalty with an audacious Panenka, leaving the keeper helpless once more.

Sevilla managed a brief response in the 80th minute when Manu Bueno found a breakthrough, reducing the deficit to 3-1. Yet, any lingering tension was instantly erased. Just two minutes later, Yan Diomande capped off an exceptional individual performance with a brilliant solo run, capped by a thunderous right-footed strike from the edge of the area to seal the 4-1 score-line.

Beyond the goals and the dominant display, the night carried an extra wave of emotion in the closing stages. In the 85th minute, Éder Militão stepped onto the pitch to make his long-awaited return, having been side-lined with an injury since April 21. The defender received a thunderous standing ovation from the Bernabéu faithful, who also used the occasion to voice their broader frustrations regarding league controversies.

For Real Madrid, this was more than just another three points; it was a night that showcased the terrifying ceiling of their attack and the incredible depth of a squad primed for silverware.
