By The Free State MEC for Treasury Hon. Gadija Brown will deliver her budget speech today afternoon at the Provincial Legislature in Bloemfontein; where she is expected to communicate how much the provincial purse has and how the funds are going to be distributed amongst departments.
The Provincial Government has been on a drive to revive the economy of the Free State and attract investment into the province. Brown is expected to give an update on how much investment the province managed attract.
MEC Brown is expected to follow the theme set by the President of the Country H.E Cyril Ramaphosa and the Free State Premier Hon. Mxolisi Dukwana by reflecting on the past 30 years of democracy.
The MEC is further expected to give an update on the economic status of the province. According to Premier Dukwana, the Free State has been contributing 4.9% towards the national GDP and the provinces economy has recovered from 0.1% to 1.5% growth rate; something the MEC will unpack in more detail and highlight some of the challenges the province is facing and how some of the key industries are performing.
The budget speech is expected to start at 14: 15.
