Reports have emerged that Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has been confirmed dead after the helicopter he was traveling in with his Minster of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian crushed on Sunday, 19 May 2024.
Raisi and Amirabdollahian were travelling back from the border over a mountainous terrain in heavy fog when the helicopter crushed. After hours of searching, the military was able to pin point the location of the helicopter. Rescuers said the weather was too bad and based on the images coming from the crush scene; there was serious concern on whether the President Ebrahim Raisi will survive.
Officials also confirmed the crush was an accident and that there is no sign of foul play.
